Year 2001 Action Plan
Year 1 of our 3 year plan

General

Secure adequate office space to optimize the effectiveness of the organization.

Continue to refine and implement long-term strategic plan

Faith Community Outreach and Education

Identify, target; and initiate a supportive ongoing relationship with 20 new faith communities.

Present 36 educational programs in congregations.

Conduct clergy forums/roundtable discussions regarding HIV-related issues.

Schedule quarterly TIHAN community forums for volunteers and the general community.

Conduct 3 training sessions for potential volunteers.

Programs

Formulate master evaluation plans for all TIHAN programs and services.

Develop a plan for funding the TIHAN Memorial Fund.

Hire a program coordinator to better oversee and support the CareTeam and Poz Cafe programs.

Expand upon the success of Poz Cafe

Enhance opportunities for spiritual discussion, support, and sharing within the HIV community.

Explore options for additional programs and services needed in the community

Volunteer Services

Solicit a Volunteer Action Team for each TIHAN event (e.g.Treasures
for TIHAN Auction, AIDS Candlelight Memorial, World AIDS Day, AIDSWalk, GayWest, and more)

Develop a Volunteer Policy and Procedures Manual Donor Services Generate a strategy to identify major donors Create a register of corporate sponsors Create a team of volunteers to assist with grant research/writing Administration Maintain an open dialog with SAAF regarding client services Board of Directors Increase the racial and ethnic diversity on the TIHAN Board of Directors Clarify and communicate the Board's committee structure and relationships Re-establish an orientation program for new Board members Conduct two Board retreats, in the spring and fall Strengthen the Board's training for donor solicitation, with assistance from the Gill Foundation Develop a policy on substance abuse and mental health issues as they relate to TIHAN's provision of services.

   


 

Leadership Changes:

Incoming and Outgoing Board Members

The beginning of 2001 saw the end of Board terms for three key leaders critical to TIHAN's success.

Linda Girard, RN

Dan Haslam, Esq.

Noel Matkin, Ph.D.

We are pleased that all three outgoing Board members will continue their long standing involvement with TII-IAN on other levels. Look for tributes to these leaders in the next newsletter. We welcome 6 new members to the TIHAN Board of Directors”

Faria Clark - financial consultant and 2nd Vice President-Investments for Salomon Smith Barney, Inc. a former dancer and instructor, with substantial experience as a fundraiser and advocate for those whose voices are not heard

Ralph Geror - retired accounting professional, organist at Lutheran Church of the Foothills, former board treasurer of the Shanti Foundation, and a TIHAN office volunteer and CareTeam Coordinator

Tim Olcott - an attorney in private practice specializing in estate planning and trust and estate administration, a Lutheran with a long history of volunteer leadership on community Boards in southern Arizona

Ted Reed - Pima County Health Department employee, one of the founders of the Kente Project--an HIV program in the African-American communities, a member of Prince Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church

Debbie Royals - experienced fundraiser with a background in healthcare and not-for-profit settings, member of St Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, active commitment and involvement in Native American issues.

Michael Tearne - employed at Loews Ventaaa Canyon Resort where he received international distinction for service standards/guest relations, TIHAN office volunteer ,living with HIV, member St Frances de Sales Catholic Church.

POZ MARKET PLACE

 POZ Cafe  

A new component of TIHAN’s successful Poz Café lunch and social program is the addition of Poz Market Place.

After lunch, participants can pick up needed items from a table stocked with donated clothes, household items, and toiletries. We are seeking donations of the following items:

Small furniture items
Disposable Razors
Toilet Paper
Skin Lotion
Bar and Bath Soap
Toothpaste
Tooth Brushes
Shaving Cream
Dish Detergent
Ensure
Clothes and Household Goods
Small Kitchen Appliances
Food Items (Non-processed and Non-perishable)

We do not have space to store these items on-site, so we ask that you call the TIHAN office and arrange for appropriate times for drop-off.
