Project VOICE Project VOICE, which stands for "Volunteer Opportunities through Information and Congregational Education," encompasses TIHANs latest HIV education and awareness outreach program. The project was made possible through a generous grant from the Flinn Foundation. The mission of Project VOICE is to ensure that accurate information regarding HIV and AIDS is available to all of our faith communities, and that the fear and stigma surrounding the pandemic can be replaced with knowledge and compassion. Through Project VOICE, the collective voices of TIHANs volunteers can join together and be heard by those who are not yet understanding and supportive. With our voices, we will form a call to care that will bring down the walls of silence that have stood for far too long. The main goal of Project VOICE is to reach out to all faith communities in the Tucson area which have not yet become actively involved in supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS. To provide congregations with real-life experiences of those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in order to better educate everyone that HIV/AIDS is a health crisis and not a moral issue. To make Project VOICE a reality TIHAN is looking for people directly affected by HIV and AIDS in their lives as a person living with HIV/AIDS, or someone whose family member or friend is living with or has died from HIV/AIDS. Volunteers are needed to:
We encourage everyone to share his/her voice to bring awareness and compassion into our world. We are presently forming Project VOICE teams of two or three people to share their voices about HIV/AIDS. Training and support will be provided for all those interested in playing a part in achieving the goals of Project VOICE. To share your voice, please contact the TIHAN office to find out when the next Project VOICE orientation will be held. Contact TIHAN by phone at (520) 299-6647 or via e-mail at voice@tihan.org
